A company is recalling some 30,000 three-wick candles, as they may pose fire and laceration hazards.

The problem with the recalled Good Matters three-wick candles is that they may “burn at higher than usual temperatures,” according to the announcement on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website. This may then pose fire or laceration hazards to users.

“The firm has received four reports of the candles catching on fire, cracking or breaking apart while in use, resulting in minor property damage and one consumer being burned,” the announcement noted.

The recall affects several scents of the 21-ounce Good Matters Three-Wick Candles. These are Leather + Oud, Citrus + Basil, Cypress + Fig, Homecoming, Snow Fall, Wild Pine, Hope, Love and Peace.

These came in glass tumblers and were black, blue, white, yellow, pink or blue in color. They had the name “Good Matters” embossed on them and may have the scents or the phrase “Winter Wonderland” printed on them. For instance, the Love candle may come in pink and have the phrase “Love, No. 2” on the tumbler.

More photos of the products can be found on the Good Matters recall page. The affected SKU numbers can be found at the bottom of the candles. These are GM-21WWWP21OZBX, GM- 21WWSF21OZBX, GM-21WWHC21OZBX, GM- 21MACF21OZBX, GM-21MACB21OZBX, GM- 21MALO21OZBX, GM-21LWHOPE21OZBX, GM- 21LWLOVE21OZBX or GM-21LWPEACE21OZBX.

In total, some 30,100 candles are included in the recall. These were sold at stores nationwide such as Homegoods, Tuesday Morning, Gabriel Brothers and Bealls. They were also sold online.

Those who have confirmed that the Good Matters candles in their possession are included in the recall are being advised to stop using them. They may contact the company via the submission form on the recall website to get a refund.

The company has provided instructions on what customers need to do to their recalled candles to be eligible for the refund.

“Before cutting the wicks, please confirm that your candle is one of the products covered by this recall,” the company reminded consumers.

Those who have questions about whether their candle is included in the recall may contact Good Matters at 1-888-470-4276 from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
