The annual All-Australian team will be unveiled, while the Rising Star, players’ MVP and coaches’ champion player will all be crowned during an AFL awards night extravaganza.
The 2022 AFL Awards will be held on Wednesday night at Centrepiece in Melbourne, with coverage beginning at 7pm AEST.
The awards show will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Kayo Sports from 7pm AEST and can be followed via foxfooty.com.au’s live blog below.

AFL AWARDS ULTIMATE GUIDE: Predicted All-Aus team
The night will conclude with the naming of the 2022 All-Australian Team, with a 22-man team to be selected from the 44-man squad that was announced on Monday night.
Melbourne captain Max Gawn in line for a sixth All-Australian blazer, while Geelong star Tom Hawkins and Western Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli could both be selected for a fifth time.
Gawn’s Demons had the most players nominated with six, while the Cats and Blues had five nominees.
Collingwood’s Nick Daicos was a surprise omission from the 44-man All-Australian squad, but is the red-hot favourite to take out this year’s NAB AFL Rising Star award.
Daicos, a Magpies father-son selection in the 2021 draft, has played with maturity beyond his years this season, playing all 22 games and averaging a club-high 26 disposals.
Hawthorn’s Jai Newcombe and Geelong’s Sam De Koning are both expected to poll well in the voting. See all 23 nominees from the 2022 season here.
Carlton’s Charlie Curnow will also be presented with the Coleman Medal after booting a competition-high 64 goals during the home and away season.
The AFL Players’ Association annual awards will also be presented, headlined by the Leigh Matthews Trophy for the Most Valuable Player — a player-voted award to crown the best player in the competition for the season.
MVP voting is a two-stage process, beginning with each player voting for the three teammates they consider to have been the most valuable this season. Each club’s votes are then tallied to form a nomination list — which was released on Sunday night — comprising 54 players across the 18 teams.
In the second round of voting, all players vote for their MVP on a 3-2-1 basis from the nominees of the 17 other clubs. Players cannot vote for their own teammates in stage two of the process.
The votes are tallied and the player with the highest score wins the honour of MVP.
Other AFLPA honours up for grabs are the Robert Rose Most Courageous Award, Best First Year Player Award and Best Captain.
The two major AFL Coaches’ Association player awards will also be crowned: The Champion Player of the Year and the Best Young Player.
Gold Coast’s Touk Miller and Brisbane’s Lachie Neale entered the penultimate home and away round with 88 coaches votes — and a two-vote lead over star Demons duo Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca — before voting across the final two rounds was withheld from the public.
