Picking up a 2-0 victory when they last welcomed Rochdale to Valley Parade back in October 2021, Hughes’ side have lost just one of their last five showdowns against the relegation scrappers – a run that stems all the way back to 2018.
As for the visitors, while Rochdale might have opened the New Year with back-to-back stalemates against Newport and Barrow, Jim Bentley’s side are at the heart of a League Two relegation scrap. While the Blues might have clung to their fourth-tier status last season, the Lancashire-based outfit now find themselves sat two points adrift of safety. Mustering just a sole win from any of their last 13 straight matchups across all formats, the former Morecambe boss has also seen his side show some rather glaring issues on the road. On a run that is highlighted by a lively 4-3 loss at the hands of Doncaster last month, Rochdale are without a win away from Spotland Stadium since the start of October.
