LIVE: Australia’s Adam Scott is still firmly in the hunt at the PGA Tour’s penultimate event of the season, the BMW Championship, having started the third round in the lead.
Scott made a bogey on the second hole but soon found the red-hot form that his ignited his late-season charge in the FedExCup Playoffs, picking up birdies on the third, fifth, and ninth holes. He is currently three-under for the round through 12 holes, having picked up a birdie on that hole also.

Reigning masters champion and current world number one Scottie Scheffler, one of four players who began the third round sharing second, one shot behind Scott, has ignited an intense battle for top spot.
Scheffler is four-under for the round, sharing second with Scott at 11-under overall through 12.
But it’s Patrick Cantlay in the lead, 12 under overall after shooting six-under for the round thru 15 holes.
“I’m playing well,” Scott said ahead of the third round. “I’m in great shape going into the weekend. I don’t even know when the last time I led a tournament was.”
Getting to the Tour Championship guarantees a player of at least $500,000 ($A728k), and a shot at the $18 million ($A26.2m) winner’s cheque.
All up, $75 million ($A109.1m) in bonuses are handed out after the FedEx Cup finale.
Incredibly, Scott is projected to jump 42 positions in the FedEx Cup rankings to third, should he win the BMW Championship, which is worth four times as many points as a regular season event.
