Nicola Peltz and her husband Brooklyn Beckham are now on cloud nine and madly in love, but that wasn’t always the case.
The “Transformers” star, who graces the August cover of Tatler, revealed in her interview with the magazine that she and the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham did not hit it off right away when they first met about five years ago through one of her brothers.
“We didn’t get along, we just didn’t click… I had a boyfriend, he had a girlfriend,” she shared. “We actually met up one time and went to dinner, and he was a friend but not a close friend. Then we ran into each other at a Halloween party two and a half years ago and I can’t tell you what happened but from then on, we were inseparable.”
Beckham and the actress — who is one of eight children shared by billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and Claudia Heffner Peltz — tied the knot on April 9, after an engagement of nearly two years, in a lavish ceremony held at the Peltz family’s multimillion-dollar estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
The couple is still in their honeymoon phase, and the “Bates Motel” star shared that she “had the best day” as she reflected on her wedding.
“I just kept thinking, ‘I’m marrying my best friend.’ And that’s all that matters,” she added.
According to Tatler, Peltz pulled out her phone and showed photos of her and her husband laughing while hugging each during her photoshoot. She explained that they both love documenting their moments together in photos or videos, which they usually share on their Instagram feeds.
“Like Brooklyn, I love taking pictures,” she told the magazine. “We have a film camera and a small Sony digital camera. And I always want to savour every moment, to take pictures or videos, so we have all these memories. So we just kind of naturally share them.”
The couple is currently living in an apartment in Los Angeles after selling their five-bedroom gated residence in Beverly Hills earlier this year. According to reports, the couple opted to buy two smaller properties — one in Los Angeles and another in Miami. Peltz said they have plans to build their own dream home but are still too busy.
“We really want to get a dream home one day, but we’re so busy,” she explained. “I haven’t stopped for one second. I had my wedding, then I wrapped filming on a show, then I came here to New York for the Met Gala.”
They made their debut as a married couple at the 2022 Met Gala in May. Peltz stunned in a Valentino hot pink floor-length gown with a plunging neckline, draping chiffon silhouette and cold shoulder finish, while Beckham rocked a bright white suit from the same fashion line with a pair of white sneakers.
