“The first match is critical. India’s lineup has been completely overhauled. In our camp, we also gained some experience. “We’re looking forward to the first game; we need to do well in the first game because it sets the tone for the rest of the series,” Shanaka remarked on the eve of the three-game series.

“India is always a better side”: Dasun Shanaka
After the T20Is, a similar three-match ODI series will be played, and Shanaka believes it would give them perfect preparation for the World Cup slated later this year in India.
“With the World Cup scheduled in India this year, the T20 and ODI series are very important because most of the guys in the side have not played in India,” Dasun Shanaka stated.
“Definitely, this will give us exposure in a lot of grounds and conditions, and playing against India will be good preparation for the World Cup, “ Dasun Shanaka said.

“India is usually a better side, what we need to do is to play good cricket against India. It’s always difficult to play India in India. But we have a strong team and are looking forward to a successful series,” Dasun Shanaka continued.
India and Sri Lanka will face off in a Twenty20 International series. The first T20I between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled for January 3. (Tuesday).
