LAS VEGAS — Detroit Pistons rookie Jaden Ivey left in the first quarter of Saturday’s summer league game against the Washington Wizards with a right ankle injury. The team announced shortly after he exited that he would not return to the game.

Pistons summer league coach Jordan Brink said after the contest that he did not believe the injury would be too concerning.

Ivey, the No. 5 overall selection in last month’s NBA draft, began the game on a roll offensively, scoring 11 points with a pair of assists in five minutes. He got fouled on a 3-point attempt midway through the opening quarter and let out an audible yell before he came up limping.

Ivey stayed in the game to knock down all three of his free throws, but exited it thereafter and headed to the locker room with a noticeable limp. He finished 2-for-2 from the field and hit all six of his free throws.

This is Ivey’s second summer league game after scoring a team-high 20 points in his debut Thursday.

“I thought you saw him a little bit more comfortable at the start of the game already from game one to game two — just the pace,” Brink said. “We wanted to get him a little bit more space to operate and use his quickness and I thought you already saw the game slowing down a little bit for him.”
