Consumers need to check their refrigerators for a Starbucks coffee beverage that is being recalled by PepsiCo (PEP) over a possible contamination.

The company has voluntarily recalled its Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot coffee beverages over metal fragments that may have contaminated as many as 221 cases of the drink.

The Starbucks beverages were sold in 15-ounce cans at retailers in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

It was unclear at the time of writing what caused the contamination of the recalled coffee drinks as the Food and Drug Administration has not initiated a public recall, only issuing an enforcement notice to its website.

The Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot drinks are not produced by Starbucks but rather PepsiCo, which initiated the recall.

According to the PepsiCo website, the Starbucks drink features “a kick of caffeine from Starbucks coffee with a hint of French Vanilla flavor and a touch of cream.” The drink is meant to be served chilled or over ice.

The affected coffee beverage was not sold at Starbucks stores.

PepsiCo told Fox News that there has been no reported adverse reactions or illnesses related to the recalled product.

The company continued in a statement, “Delivering a quality experience to our consumers is our top priority and we always act with an abundance of caution whenever a potential concern is raised.”

Questions or concerns about the recall can be directed to PepsiCo consumer relations at 1-800-211-8307, Fox News reported.
