Through four games, Cincinnati’s defense has given up the fifth-fewest rushing yards to running backs, but Dobbins scored twice against the Bills. Meanwhile, the Bengals have struggled to rush the ball while running back Joe Mixon has battled through an ankle injury, but he could be a better pick in the NFL DFS player pool this week after not showing up on the injury report for Week 5. Top NFL DFS picks for Bengals vs. Ravens
One of McClure’s top NFL DFS picks for Sunday Night Football is Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. After starting the season shot out of a cannon, Jackson came back to Earth a little bit last weekend against Buffalo. He completed nearly 69% of his passes, but finished with just 144 passing yards, two interceptions and a touchdown in addition to 73 rushing yards. The Bengals have only allowed 22 rushing yards from opposing quarterbacks this season, but in two games against Cincinnati last season, Jackson finished with 88 yards on 12 total carries.
Through the first three weeks of the season, Jackson completed 63.6% of his passes for 749 yards, 10 touchdowns and just two picks. During that stretch, he also ran for 243 yards and two scores. The Bengals defense is tough, but it’s not as scary as Buffalo’s, and though Jackson had a bit of a disappointing day by his own standards, last week was more of a high-floor game, where this week provides a better chance for him to reach his ceiling.
Part of McClure’s optimal NFL DFS strategy also includes rostering Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. Teammate Tee Higgins actually has more yards on fewer catches this season than Chase, but the latter bounced back from a quiet Week 3 with 81 yards on just four receptions last week against the Dolphins. For the season, Chase has 25 catches for 293 yards with two touchdowns, but he also has the largest part of the team’s target share in the passing game at 26.2%.
Chase should hold the edge over Higgins on Sunday night, as Baltimore’s secondary has been underperforming, and has to be concerned with how effective Higgins has been over the last few weeks. Meanwhile, the Ravens have allowed the fifth-most yards after the catch this season (569), which plays right into Chase’s usage and skill set. Chase has the third-most receptions for first downs in the NFL with 20, and four broken tackles, which is tied with four other players for second-most.
