Elon Musk’s father, Errol, revealed Wednesday he has a “secret” second child with his stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout.
The 76-year-old’s admission comes just a week after it was revealed Elon fathered two children with an executive at his artificial intelligence company, Neuralink.
Errol welcomed the baby girl with 35-year-old Jana back in 2019, but only confirmed the news on Wednesday, telling The Sun: “The only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce.”
The two also reportedly share 5-year-old Elliot Rush, who was born in 2017. The Tesla CEO’s father admitted Jana’s pregnancy was “unplanned,” adding they were no longer living together, citing their 41-year age gap.
“It’s not practical. She’s 35,” Errol said. “Eventually if I’m still around, she might wind up back with me.”
“Any man who marries a [younger] woman, even if you feel very sprightly, it’s going to be nice for a while, but there’s a big gap … and that gap is going to show itself,” he added.
The growing Musk family tree is quite complicated. Errol has seven children, while Elon fathered 10 babies. Errol married model Maye Haldeman Musk in 1970, and the pair had three children: Elon, Kimbal and Tosca. The couple split in 1979. He then got married to Heide Bezuidenhout, a young widow who already had two children, including Jana. Errol and Heide had two children together, but they eventually divorced after an 18-year marriage.
In 2017, Errol and Jana had a child together – which led to a fall out between the Tesla CEO and his father. The wealthy South African engineer has also stated there are other women claiming he has fathered their children, Rolling Stone reported.
“I have about six people, women who claim that their child is my child right now. Obviously they are opportunists,” he stated. “[But] there was a period in Johannesburg in the ’80s that I was going out with a different woman every night. I had plenty of dates. So it’s quite conceivable that one of them could actually come back and say, ‘This is your child.’ It’s possible.”
Errol has not ruled out the possibility of having more children in the future. “If I could have another child, I would. I can’t see any reason not to,” he said, according to The Sun.
Last month, Errol had joked about the number of children his son Elon has fathered, saying he finds it hard to “keep track” of his grandchildren.
On July 6, Elon welcomed two kids with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis – the third woman the entrepreneur has had kids with.
“Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis,” Elon tweeted last Thursday. “A collapsing birthrate is the biggest danger civilisation faces by far.”
The twins were born just weeks before Elon welcomed his second child, Exa Dark Sideræl, with Canadian pop star Grimes. Elon first became a father back in 2002, welcoming a son named Nevada with then-wife Justine Wilson. The child died just 10 weeks after birth from sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS. The couple later had five more children, twins Vivian and Griffin and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian, before their divorce in 2008.
