There could be two Scotts coaching in the AFL once again, with reports Brad Scott is considering an approach from Essendon.
The Bombers had stated they were looking for an “experienced” mentor to take the reins after Ben Rutten was sacked at the end of the home and away season.
But already the likes of Ross Lyon and Don Pyke have ruled themselves out of the running.

Speaking on Monday, Triple M’s Tom Browne said Scott would meet with Essendon “in the coming days”.
“I believe, this is a prediction that Brad Scott will be announced as the Bombers coach by the end of the week,” he said.
“He has to meet with them in the coming days … As soon as tomorrow, Brad will ramp up talks with the Bombers.”
Browne said Scott was the sort of coach Essendon were seeking.
“Given his 211 games experience as senior coach, his 106-105 record – better than 50 per cent, I think it’s attractive for the Bombers,” he said.
“It’s my view that he will be announced as the Bombers coach by the end of the week.”
Triple M journalist Damian Barrett said he believed there would be a phone conservation with Scott and the Bombers this week – but whether that would be enough to get him to commit to the coaching application process, he wasn’t certain.
“He, I believe, will take a phone call next week from Essendon and I believe he’s open to at least the first stage of that conversation,” he said.
“How that looks and whether he decides to take himself out of the mix. He, to me, would present as almost the ideal type of coach they would want to have.
“He fits that bill, he’s a two-time preliminary final coach.”
Scott is the current football operations boss at the AFL, where he has been working since his time as coach of North Melbourne ended in 2019.
Scott’s twin brother Chris is the coach of Geelong, leading his side to premiership success days ago.
