Family Dollar is recalling Colgate products and a variety of over-the-counter (OTC) products following its July recall that affected hundreds of products from multiple brands.
Family Dollar issued a recall for certain Colgate products from some stores because they were stored “outside of labeled temperature requirements,” the company announced on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website.
The affected products include Colgate Optic White Stain Prevention Toothpaste, Colgate Optic White Charcoal Toothpaste, Colgate Optic White Mouthwash, Colgate Optic White High Impact Toothpaste, Colgate Optic White Toothpaste Icy Fresh and Colgate Optic White Stain Fighter Toothpaste.
They were shipped to stores in Arizona, California, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Utah from May 1 to June 21.
Recall expansion
Family Dollar also expanded an earlier issuance wherein it recalled hundreds of products in July because of storage temperature issues.
Products affected by the expanded announcement include items like Clearblue Smart Countdown pregnancy test, Trojan ultra thin condom latex, Preferred UTI test and even products such as Polident denture cleansers and at-home marijuana test strips. The full list of the recalled products is available on both the FDA and company websites.
“To date, Family Dollar has not received any consumer complaints or reports of illness related to this recall,” the company noted. “This recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution.”
According to the company, the products were “stored and inadvertently shipped” to some stores earlier this year, though not all of the products were shipped to all of the stores.
“This recall does not apply to Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, Alaska, or Hawaii as Family Dollar does not have any stores in Alaska or Hawaii and no Family Dollar stores in any of the other states received any products subject to this recall,” the company said.
In response to these recalls, Family Dollar has asked its stores to check the shelves and stop selling the affected items.
“Customers that may have bought affected product may return such product to the Family Dollar store where they were purchased without receipt,” it said.
