Bookings are now open for Funlab’s annual Day of Fun, held on September 6 this year, which sees activities across Funlab’s venues reduce to a flat rate of $5, with proceeds going to national youth mental health organisation, headspace.

Holey Moley, Strike Bowling and Archie Brothers Electriq are some of the 54 venues Australia-wide that will have discounted activities in a bid to raise $250,000 – the largest fundraising goal yet. Proceeds go towards headspace online communities, a space moderated by mental health professionals for young people to connect with peers and discuss their challenges.

Funlab CEO, Michael Schreiber said Funlab wants to bring back the ‘fun’ in fundraising to achieve their biggest goal yet and support youth mental health.

“Partnering with headspace is an important initiative for everyone in our Funlab team. We have young people coming through our doors everyday – both team members and guests – so this is an opportunity for us to not only raise funds for an important charity, but to support youth mental health, while providing a fun experience for friends and families,” he said.

“We encourage everyone to jump online and book an activity slot at their local Funlab for $5, or come down on the day, and get involved to help us reach our biggest fundraising goal yet of $250,000.”

The day will see venues decked out in headspace green, on-the-day activities including entertainment and face painting, alongside Funlab activities. As part of the fundraising, there will also be a telethon hosted in Funlab’s support office in Melbourne.

headspace CEO Jason Trethowan said Day of Fun is one of the charity’s largest fundraising events of the year and an important initiative to engage with young people.

“headspace recognises connecting with others and making time for the things you enjoy are important for maintaining good mental health. Day of Fun is a terrific opportunity to do just that while also raising funds to support vital youth mental health programs here at headspace,” he said.

“We are incredibly grateful for the more than half a million dollars Funlab has raised for headspace over the past six years. This year’s funds will go towards expanding our digital mental health program, which supported more than 12,000 young people and family members last year – a number we expect to grow by 30%.

“With two in five young people now living with mental ill-health, it’s more important than ever headspace can continue to support young Australians and their families in ways that work for them. Young people are resilient and with the right support they do get through tough times and back on track to reach their potential. We want to offer our sincerest thanks to Funlab for their ongoing support and commitment,” he added.

Pre-booking is essential to secure an activity on September 6. Archie Brothers and B.Lucky & Sons remain available for walk-ins only.
