The rematch is on.
Two months after George Kambosos Jr. lost his unification lightweight fight to Devin Haney on June 5 in Melbourne, the Australian star will take on his American rival on October 16 in a mouth-watering sequel.
Kambosos (20-1) lost a unanimous decision to Haney (28-0) at Marvel Stadium in the second biggest boxing bout in Australian history.
It came after a war of words, where the 29-year-old was unable to deal with Haney’s excellent jab and defence.

It was a masterful display by Haney, who rarely looked troubled. It was a far cry from the epic Kambosos won over Teofimo Lopez six months earlier in New York, where both men ended up on the canvas.
But Kambosos, who has kept a low profile since the defeat, says he is “looking forward to doing the talking in the ring” when the duo face off against each other in spring.
“I’m just look forward to doing the talking in the ring,” Kambosos told foxsports.com.au.
“Revenge, redemption, whatever it is, we’ll see on October 16 if that’s what it is.
“For now, like I said, I’m enjoying the fruits of my labour. And when it’s time to fight, I’ll be ready to fight.”
Kambosos said he had been purposely keeping a “low profile” since the defeat and reiterated that he will do “more talking in the ring this time”.
Nor was he wanting to reveal what lessons there were out of the one-sided defeat, instead wanting to keep his cards close to his chest.
“Whatever lessons were, they’ll be shown October 16th – I’ll do my talking with my hands,” he said.
“I guess it’s for everyone to watch on October 16th, to be honest.
“I haven’t even thought about doing anything different, maybe I’ll do the same thing.”
Kambosos was continually on the front foot ahead of his fight earlier this year. It came as Kambosos attempted to sell out the fight in Melbourne.
Without the pressure of defending his belts, Kambosos will head into the fight as the underdog with the fight likely to be held at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. It’s a mentality Kambosos has carried with him throughout his life.
But the boxing sensation says he will be ready for the rematch as he attempts to shock the world once more.
“The support’s there and the love is there and, no matter what, they’re always going to be supporting me, my fan base,” he said.
“I don’t have to sell the fight this time.
“I know the support will be there, and it’s up to other people to sell the fight.
“The fans and everyone else will see how confident I am on October 16. I’m just enjoying my time and when that day comes, I’m sure I’ll be ready.”
