Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, made more significant attempts to try to overturn the 2020 Presidential election than previously known, with a bombshell new report indicating she reached out to nearly 30 lawmakers in an attempt to reverse Joe Biden’s win in Arizona.
According to The Washington Post, Thomas, who was previously reported to have sent emails to two Arizona House members in November and December 2020 and urged them to select presidential electors to help overturn Biden’s win in the state, actually sent emails to 27 additional lawmakers via the platform FreeRoots, which allows pre-written emails to be sent to multiple elected officials.
The Post reports she used the platform to send identical emails to 20 members of the Arizona house and seven Arizona state senators on Nov. 9.
“As state lawmakers, you have the Constitutional power and authority to protect the integrity of our elections—and we need you to exercise that power now! Never before in our nation’s history have our elections been so threatened by fraud and unconstitutional procedures,” the email read. “That’s why the nation’s eyes are on you now. Before you choose your state’s electors…please consider what will happen to the nation we all love if you do not stand up and lead.”
The emails aren’t the only way Thomas tried to overturn the election, as she was also proven to have texted former President Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows as well to encourage him to overturn the results. However, despite her attempts, her husband did not recuse himself when the former President went to the Supreme Court in an effort to block the House Jan. 6 committee from getting access to his White House records as part of their investigation. While the court overall did not vote to block the release of those documents, the only justice to dissent and side with Trump over the issue was Clarence Thomas.
Following the news of Ginni Thomas’ mass email campaign, many have now once again renewed calls for her husband to resign from his powerful post, a position he has held since 1991, or for him to be impeached due to the conflict of interest.
Others also expressed that it seemed highly unlikely that Justice Thomas was unaware of the steps his wife was taking to try and overturn the election.
Neither Clarence nor Ginni Thomas has released any statements on the latest controversy surrounding them, though Ginni has previously insisted that she and her husband keep their realms separate.
