The children of Russian officials who have been sanctioned in connection to the war in Ukraine have continued to visit NATO and EU countries, an investigative reporter found.

In a report by Sergey Ezhov for the Russia-focused, independent media outlet The Insider, the journalist noted that Dubai, Bali and the Maldives are among the top places visited by the children of sanctioned Russian government officials.

Veronica Naryshkina, daughter of the director of the Foreign Intelligence Services Sergey Naryshkin

Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February last year, Veronica has traveled to Seychelles, Turkey, Bali and Dubai. While her personal Instagram account is closed to the public, photos of her travels amid her father’s sanctions were shared on the account of close friend Victoria Kosolapova, who is the daughter of former Lokomotiv Moscow soccer player Alexei Kosolapov, The Insider reported. The account, however, has also since gone private.

In one of the photos viewed by the outlet, Veronica was seen staying at the AYANA Resort Bali, where a room costs upwards of $500 per night.

Ksenia Shoigu, daughter of Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu

Ksenia and her husband, blogger Alexei Stolyarov, allegedly spent their New Year’s vacation in Dubai where they stayed at Caesar’s Palace, costing them at least 500,000 rubles ($7,100) per night. This is based on photos shared by Stolyarov on social media.

Ksenia owned the investment company Capital Performance which was paid by the Russian government for medical examinations of government drivers. Russian oligarch Gennady Timchenko also paid the firm to build stadiums and bridges. She is currently a contractor for the Russian defense ministry.

Alexander Dzhabarov, son of Federation Council member Vladimir Dzhabarov

Alexander and his wife Sofia Cheloyants were seen vacationing in California in the summer of 2021. At the time, REN TV channel ran a documentary attacking the Russian opposition, allegedly in the service of America. Vladimir has been exposing the “pro-American” opposition during the same time his son was traveling across the U.S., according to the outlet.

After the war in Ukraine began, Alexander posted photos of him traveling to Sweden, Norway, Turkey and Dubai on his Instagram account, which has since been set to private.

Yulia Ogloblina, daughter-in-law of Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko

Yulia, who is married to Valentina Matvienko’s son Sergei, has shared on her Instagram account photos and videos of her traveling to Italy, Cambodia and Turkey following the war in Ukraine. For the New Year holidays, she spent her vacation in the Maldives, staying at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi hotel which costs over 230,000 rubles ($3,200) a night.

Evgeny Gerasimov, son of Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov

Evgeny, who resides at 103 Leninsky Prospekt, appears to prefer vacationing in the Crimean Peninsula, a Ukrainian region that Russia illegally annexed in 2014. According to photos viewed by the outlet, Evgeny’s wife Alyona Gerasimova had previously posted a photo where she was shown wearing a robe issued by the 4-star Porto Mare Hotel in the city of Alushta.
