IKEA Australia has launched two new digital tools designed to make the IKEA shopping experience more convenient and personalised.

The IKEA Gift Registry takes the guesswork out of choosing the perfect present for milestone events like weddings, housewarmings, baby showers, birthdays or Christmas.

Customers sign-in to their IKEA Family account to create their Gift Registry on the IKEA website and add products. They then share the list with one click to family and friends to browse, choose and complete their purchase online or at an IKEA store near them. The IKEA Gift Registry is updated in real time.

After a successful pilot in IKEA Queensland stores, the IKEA App Checkout is now available in all 10 IKEA Australia stores. The IKEA App Checkout is a self-service feature to give customers a faster and more convenient checkout experience in-store.

Customers scan products directly on their phone as they walk through the store and place items in their trolley or bag. They then scan the QR code and pay at the dedicated mobile checkouts on the way out. The IKEA App Checkout is activated via the IKEA app, or by scanning the QR code in-store.

IKEA Australia country digital manager, Giovanni Rutigliano said, “Customer behavior is always changing, and we are constantly looking for innovative ways to best meet our customers at IKEA. We know our customers want to shop faster and more efficiently in-store and online.

“We’re excited that our new digital launches, the Gift Registry and the in-store App Checkout, will make the shopping experience simpler and more exciting, whether it be enabling a super-fast checkout or organising for a gift giving event.”
