Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich finalized their divorce more than two years after they called it quits.
The former couple was declared officially divorced Friday after a judgment was entered in the case, TMZ reported. The details of their divorce agreement were not immediately available.
The “Dancing with the Stars” pro, 33, and the hockey player, 38, announced that they were parting ways after three years of marriage in a joint statement to People back in May 2020.
“We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate,” they wrote. “We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”
Hough and Laich were seen hanging out together in the months following the announcement. An unnamed source told People at the time that he wanted to make things work and that she was considering getting back together with him, but she was taking her time.
However, in November 2020, the former “America’s Got Talent” judge decided to officially end their marriage and file for divorce.
Hough “initiated their split” but was struggling with it and felt torn, an unnamed source told E! News at the time.
She and Laich “almost fully reconciled” in September that year, but she “ultimately decided her heart wasn’t in the marriage anymore and wanted to give herself the freedom and independence to experience new things,” a second source added.
There had been hints suggesting that their marriage had hit rock bottom prior to her divorce filing, according to a report from E! News. They had been spending time apart and social distanced separately during the onset of the pandemic. Hough spent the lockdown in Los Angeles, while Laich was in Idaho.
One source told Us Weekly that the pair had a non-conventional relationship and had different viewpoints on important issues. They also had grievances against each other but chose to deal with them privately.
“There’s still a love there, but not in a romantic sense,” the insider said.
In February, Hough filed a declaration for uncontested dissolution, according to court documents obtained by People.
“The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court,” the declaration read.
Hough waived her right to spousal support from Laich and their agreement was uncontested, according to the documents.
Since splitting, Hough and Laich have both moved on. Hough was romantically linked to model Charlie Wilson after she was seen kissing him in Los Angeles in November 2021.
Laich, for his part, has been dating CrossFit athlete Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir. He made their romance Instagram official in August 2021.
