Prince William and Kate Middleton did not attempt to introduce their children to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter, Lilibet, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew to the U.K. with their children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, last week to join the rest of the royal family in celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
However, royal biographer Christopher Andersen claimed to Us Weekly that Prince William and his wife “made no effort at all to introduce Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to [Lili]” while the Sussexes were in the U.K.
The author of “Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan” noted that there is still “a lot of tension” between the Cambridges and Prince Harry and Markle.
“As far as I know, nobody believes they spoke [to one another]” during the celebrations, Andersen added.
According to Andersen, the future king and queen consort traveled to Wales on June 4 instead of attending their niece Lilibet’s first birthday party, which was held at Frogmore Cottage over the weekend.
The royal author claimed that palace officials “sidelined” Prince Harry and Markle during the Jubilee festivities after the couple was excluded from the royals’ balcony appearance during the Trooping the Colour parade and was seated away from Prince William and Duchess Kate during the Jubilee service.
“I think what it boils down to is not only what’s happened in the recent past,” Andersen explained, referring to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s March 2021 tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, but also “the Royal family is terrified about what’s going to be contained in the book Harry is going be publishing at the end of this year.”
Prince Harry announced last year that he is writing a memoir that will contain an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of his life. It is expected to hit bookshelves later this year.
Discussing the Sussexes’ recent U.K. trip, royal expert Angela Levin, author of “Harry: A Biography of a Prince,” claimed that Prince Harry may have been “upset” that he was “largely ignored” by his family during the Jubilee festivities. She also suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were to blame for the Cambridges’ absence from Lilibet’s party.
“They didn’t take the trouble of finding out the Cambridges would be in Wales on the morning and coming back to get ready for the Jubilee concert in the afternoon, so they couldn’t go,” Levin told The Sun.
