Café LycoReco is a downtown eatery that is renowned for its coffee and delicious sweet treats. However, the employees of the café take more than just coffee orders.
“Lycoris Recoil” Episode 1 introduces the bubbly and smart employees of Café LycoReco who can take care of coffee and sweets as well as childcare and teach Japanese to foreigners.
However, there is even more, turns out Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue who work at this café are also part of a secret organization named DA – Direct Attack.
The organization’s all-girl agents are called Lycoris. The anime follows the life of Chisato and Takina as they lead the lives of café employees and secret agents fighting crime.
“For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all. A secret organization that prevents crimes: DA – Direct Attack. And their group of all-girl agents: Lycoris. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco,” read the official synopsis of “Lycoris Recoil” anime.
“Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!” the synopsis continued.
The cast of the anime includes Chika Anzai as Chisato Nishikigi, Shion Wakayama as Takina Inoue, Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara, Misaki Kuno as Kurumi, and Kosuke Sakaki as Mika.
“Lycoris Recoil” anime is based on the original work of Spider Lily and the original story is by Asaura. The series is directed by Shingo Adachi and the character design is by Imigimuru.
Yumiko Yamamoto, Kouji Shoki, Yukari Takeuchi and Go Suzuki are credited as chief animation directors while Kenji Sawada is the lead animator. Hodaka Okamoto and Maiko Ikeda are the art directors. Hitomi Sudo is editing the series and Shuhei Mutsuki has composed the music.
The anime is produced by A-1 Pictures.
“Lycoris Recoil” Episode 1 is slated to debut Saturday. Fans in the U.S. can watch the episode online on Crunchyroll. The episode will stream in Japanese with English subtitles.
