Mama June Shannon and her sister Joanne “Doe Doe” Shannon received very different reactions from fans when they promoted their family’s reality show on social media separately.
When Mama June, 42, shared a snippet of the latest episode of “Road to Redemption” on Instagram, she received a lot of negative comments from the viewers of the show. The clip showed an awkward interaction between June and her daughters Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 22, and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 25.
“I don’t watch [the show] for you, June. I watch for your children now. I see no redemption. Pumpkin and Alana should have their own show now,” one wrote.
“I don’t [know] if I like this show anymore… It makes me sick to my stomach to see [the] girls cry for their mom [and] Josh crying hurting for his wife all because of June’s bad parenting,” another added.
Around the time June promoted the show on her Instagram page, Doe Doe, 56, also posted a teaser clip showing her taking care of baby Bentley, the second child of Pumpkin and Josh Efird. In the video, Josh flashed a big smile when Bentley fell asleep with the help of Doe Doe.
The post quickly received a slew of positive messages from fans.
“You are such a good woman for stepping up and helping. I love watching you on the show. [Y]ou are such a caring person. I know that they all love you,” a fan commented.
“You definitely are this family’s guardian angel! Now, you have done enough regarding June who has made constant decisions to disrupt [and] destroy Pumpkin’s marriage. … I can’t watch anymore. I wished the show continued with everyone but June,” another wrote.
Doe Doe had been a big help to Pumpkin and her sisters when Mama June abandoned her children to be with her now-ex-boyfriend Geno Doak in early 2019. She continued to support her nieces when the controversial matriarch struggled with drug addiction and had to enter rehab.
In the current season of “Road to Redemption,” Doe Doe shows up from time to time to check in on Pumpkin and her family. On the other hand, Pumpkin and her sisters have been trying to keep their distance from Mama June, who secretly tied the knot with Justin Stroud, 34, in March.
“Mama June: Road to Redemption” airs new episodes every Friday at 9 p.m. EDT on We TV.
