It’s been eight years since a golfer won back-to-back major championships. What are the chances that streak is broken at the 2022 Open Championship?
After winning the 2022 U.S. Open, Matt Fitzpatrick has 20/1 odds at BetMGM to win the 2022 Open Championship. Fitzpatrick has the sixth-best odds to win the final major golf tournament of the year.
The Open Championship is scheduled for July 14-17 at St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland.
Fitzpatrick, 27, won his first-ever major by finishing six-under-par Sunday at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. He fished one shot ahead of Will Zalatoris and Scottie Scheffler. Zalatoris was the PGA Championship runner-up, while Scheffler won this year’s Masters.
The only golfer to have a top-six finish at all three 2022 majors, Zalatoris is one of four golfers with 22/1 Open Championship odds. The No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, Scheffler is tied for second in the Open Championship field with 12/1 odds. No. 3 ranked Jon Rahm also has 12/1 odds, following a 12th-place finish at the U.S. Open.
Rahm entered the final round at the U.S. Open among the leaders, but he shot four-over-par in the final 18 holes.

McIlroy, ranked No. 2 in the world, is the clear Open Championship favorite with 9/1 odds. McIlroy was the Masters runner-up and has finished in eighth and fifth place, respectively, in each of the last two majors.
All four of McIlroy’s major championship victories came prior to 2015. McIlroy won the 2014 Open Championship and PGA Championship, becoming the last golfer to win two majors in a row.
Reigning PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas has 14/1 Open Championship odds. Reigning Open Championship Collin Morikawa has 18/1 odds, having won a major in each of the last two years.
Tiger Woods is expected to return for the Open Championship. Woods has 40/1 odds to win his third major at St. Andrews.
The last nine major golf tournaments have been won by different players.
