Former heavyweight boxers Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield announced a collaboration Monday for “Holy Ears,” a new line of cannabis edibles.
Holy Ears will be produced through cannabis company Carma Holdings and will be infused with THC, Delta 8, along with other hemp-cannabinoid varieties.
The inspiration behind the name comes from a fight in which Tyson bit off a part of Holyfield’s ear.
The two boxing champions were among the best of their generation. Tyson’s career lasted from 1985 to 2005, while Holyfield’s began in 1984 and ended in 2011.
“Mike and I have a long history of competition and respect for one another. And that night changed both of our lives. Back then, we didn’t realize that even as power athletes, we were also in a lot of pain,” Holyfield said in the release.
Holy Ears will be available for sale in Arizona, Illinois, Nevada and New Jersey starting in November.
Tyson already has his own cannabis products under “Tyson 2.0” with Carma called “Mike Bites” which are also inspired by their fight. These edibles are shaped like ears with a bite mark.
Holyfield will be releasing his own product line separately in 2023, as well.
Tyson and Holyfield have both cited cannabis as either medicinal or beneficial to wellness. Cannabis is said to help with multiple health conditions.
“Now, nearly 20 years later, we have the opportunity to share the medicine we really needed throughout our careers. I’m honored to join the Carma family and partner with Mike and the TYSON 2.0 team to launch Holy Ears, and soon my own line of cannabis products,” Holyfield said in the release.
