Pakistan Cricket Team is all set to play 3 ODIs against New Zealand commencing from 9th January (Monday). This ODI Series is a part of the World Super League. Both the teams have qualified for the ODI World Cup 2023 where Pakistan is placed in 6th position with 120 points whereas New Zealand is in 2nd position with 130 points.
The Men in Green would be hoping that they can end their home season in a grand fashion after the topsy-turvy New Zealand Test Series. Pakistan would be well aware of the fact that they cannot take New Zealand as recently they convincingly defeated India.

Mohammad Aamir on dismissal of Virat Kohli
Mohammad Aamir was having an interaction with media and revealed the plan for Virat Kohli. “Their top-3 was scoring above 300 in almost every game. We had it in our mind that if we have to defend the target, we have to remove at least two of their top-3 quickly. I moved the ball away twice against Rohit Sharma and brought the third one in; we all know Rohit struggles against in-swing. No doubt he is one of the best players in the world, though,” said Mohammad Aamir.

“When Kohli’s catch was dropped, I immediately thought of the reprieve Fakhar got earlier in the innings, that how a no ball saved him. We know about Kohli, he was in top form and his average was brilliant in run chases. I knew if he scored a 100, we were gone. I bowled an out-swinger, I knew he would be preparing for an in-swinger at the time. “If you see that replay, Kohli was ready for an in-swinger on that wicket-taking ball. And Shadab took a brilliant catch, and it was even tougher than the dropped one,” he added.
Critical Phase for Pakistan
With the ODI World Cup scheduled in October 2023, the Men in Green needs to find an ideal combination as chopping & changing frequently doesn’t keep the team in good stead. With Shahid Afridi as the interim chief selector, the Pakistan fans would be hoping that the batters play fearlessly.
The left-arm speedster Mohammad Amir hasn’t been named in the squad against New Zealand. The Black Caps have been dealt with a massive blow as their two prime fast bowlers, Matt Henry & Adam Milne are out of the ODI Series where now a lot will depend on the senior speedster Tim Southee.
