Almost 150,000 Mockingbird strollers are being voluntarily recalled, as the units may pose a fall risk to the children aboard them.

The problem with the recalled Mockingbird Single-to-Double Strollers is that the “lower side of the stroller frame” may actually crack, thus posing a fall risk to the child, according to the announcement on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website.

There have been 138 reports of the issue as of the recall date. There have also been eight reports of injuries (cuts, bruises and scratches) to the children in the strollers.

“We regularly test our strollers above and beyond the required industry standards, and constantly seek opportunities in our products and testing programs to create even safer strolling,” Mockingbird noted in its recall statement. “Despite surpassing the highest governmental regulations for stroller safety, we received reports from some customers whose Single-to-Double Stroller developed cracks in the side of their frame, posing a fall risk to children in the stroller.”

Those who have the recalled strollers should stop using them “immediately.” Instead, they should contact the company to receive a free frame reinforcement kit. They’re being advised not to use the strollers until they have received and installed it.

The recall only affects the Mockingbird Single-to-Double Strollers that have lot numbers between 20091 and 22602. Customers may find this information on a white label on the inner left side of the stroller frame. A photo of where this can be located and what it looks like is also available on the company’s recall website in the FAQ section.

“If your stroller type is a Single-to-Double Stroller (“DESC: MOCKINGBIRD DOUBLE STROLLER”) AND your Lot Number is between 20091 and 22602, your stroller is included in this voluntary recall, and you should request a Frame Reinforcement Kit,” the company noted.

Customers may confirm whether their stroller is included in the recall by inputting their unit’s lot number here.

The recalled strollers came in black or silver with black seats and canopies that are either light blue, black, dark blue, pink or light green. They were sold at Target stores nationwide as well as via the company website and other online stores from March 2020 to September 2022.

In total, some 149,000 strollers are included in the recall.

Those with questions about the recall may contact the company at 877-274-3240.

“At Mockingbird, our top priority is (and always has been) to ensure the safety of you and your little ones,” the company noted. “We chose to do a voluntary recall in partnership with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission because we hope doing so will encourage everyone to get the Kit and ensure even safer strolling.”
