Pokhara Avengers’ three-match winning run in the ongoing Nepal T20 League 2022/23 came to an end on Thursday (January 5) with a crushing loss at the hands of Janakpur Royals.
The win also helped the Royals get back to winning ways after they suffered a defeat at the hands of table-toppers Lumbini All Stars in their previous outing.
Thanks to the win, the Royals now have 6 wins from 9 games. The Avengers, on the other hand, have 3 losses and 6 wins from 9 games after their latest loss.
Janakpur Royals thrash Pokhara Avengers:
Janakpur Royals thrashed Pokhara Avengers by 6 wickets to register their sixth win of the competition. The Avengers had entered the game on the back of three back-to-back wins and were expected to put up a good performance.
The Royals, however, did not let the Avengers capitalize on the momentum as they made light work of them. The Royals decided to bowl first after winning the toss and bowled out the opposition for a paltry 68 in 12 overs.
Sompal Kami wreaked havoc with the new ball to put the Royals on top. In his first over, he dismissed opener Sumit Maharjan before accounting for Aarif Sheikh and Upul Tharanga in his second to reduce the Avengers to 18 for 3 in the 3rd over.
The Avengers just could not recover from those early setbacks and were eventually all out for 68. Apart from Kami, Lalit Rajbanshi and Sharafuddin Ashraf also had good outings with the ball, taking 2 wickets apiece. For the Avengers, Siddhant Lohani’s 17 was the best effort with the bat.

With the bat, the Royals chased down the total in just 9 overs by losing 4 wickets. Sharafuddin Ashraf and Trevon Griffith gave the Royals a good start by adding 57 runs in less than 6 overs for the first wicket. The Royals did lose 4 wickets in quick time but eventually crossed the finishing line without any trouble.
