The NRL’s grand final venue saga is set to come to an end with ARLC chairman Peter V’landys and NRL CEO Andrew Abdo scheduling a press conference for 1:30pm AEST on Thursday.
Both the NSW and Queensland governments have reportedly been scrambling to secure the hosting rights at the 11th hour.
The ‘Sunshine State’ firmed as a legitimate option to host the end-of-year showcase following V’landys’ battle with the NSW government over funding for suburban grounds.

But now, according to The Daily Telegraph, the grand final will likely be held at Accor’s Stadium after NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet offered the ARLC an $8 million payment.
“As I have said to the NRL, they should keep the NRL grand final where it has always been – in the heart of rugby league, here in NSW. Ultimately. you have to make decisions in this job about what is most important for the people of our state,” NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said on the issue.
“We put a very fair and reasonable offer to the NRL in relation to keeping the grand final.
“That is commercially in confidence. It is probably not as much as Queensland have offered but it is more than we have paid in the past.

The report said Perrottet’s latest offer was likely enough to trump Queensland’s bid which included hosting three NRL deciders in the lead-up to the 2023 Brisbane Olympics.
The ‘Sunshine State’s’ plans included a bid to host multiple grand finals and blow their rivals out of the water.
The ARLC was poised to announce the grand final’s destination on Wednesday but not a decision is expected to be delivered this afternoon.
“This is a really important decision and the Commission needs to consider all elements,” NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said on Wednesday.
“We are still in active negotiations. We want to resolve the matter as quickly as possible. I think everybody wants certainty now. The commission has important decisions to make.
“We will announce this when the Commission is ready and has all the information.”
