Pepsi announced a new campaign Thursday that encourages the mixture of milk into their cola beverage during the holidays.
The odd combination comes as the soft drink brand wants to put a twist on the classic holiday combination of milk and cookies as “Pilk and Cookies.”
“Combining Pepsi and milk has long been a secret hack among Pepsi fans,” Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s chief marketing officer, said in a press release.
Pepsi said the combination “combines the crispness of Pepsi with the subtly sweet and creamy taste of milk.”
The campaign also put a twist on the popular phrase from “Mean Girls” about actor Lindsay Lohan‘s character Cady Heron, “I saw Cady Heron wearing army pants and flip flops. So, I bought army pants and flip flops.”
“We saw @lindsaylohan having #PilkandCookies so we had #PilkandCookies,” Pepsi posted on Twitter.
Lohan said in the press release that she was skeptical at first, but she’s happy to embrace the new Pilk and Cookies tradition.
“As someone who loves the holiday season and embracing new traditions, I was thrilled to have a little bit of fun with Pepsi and their take on the dirty soda,” Lohan said.
“For people learning about Pilk for the first time, I won’t lie to you when I say I was a bit skeptical when I first heard of this pairing, but after my first sip I was amazed at how delicious it was, so I’m very excited for the rest of the world to try it,” she added.
