“God of War: Ragnarok” is one of the most-anticipated games launching this year and while the supposed release date and pre-order announcement did not happen last Thursday, a new set of details about the sequel, including its Collector’s Edition, emerged online.
Industry insider and Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier shared more information about “God of War: Ragnarok,” including a possible explanation why the supposed announcement did not happen this week. “After talking with more folks yesterday, I can definitively say there was a release date/pre-order announcement planned for yesterday. It was bumped at some point last week. I don’t know why. (Speculation is because of Roe v Wade.).” he said.
“People working on it say it’s huge and seem pretty excited about it,” Schreier added, noting that “as of this week the game is still on track for November.” Tom Henderson, a reliable industry insider, confirmed Schreier’s release window and offered details on the game’s Collector’s Edition.

“The Collector’s Editions of God of War Ragnarok will feature a 1:1 scale replica of Thor’s Mjolnir hammer, with the two editions being named the Collector’s Edition and the Jotnar Edition,” Henderson revealed. He also disclosed details about the Jotnar Edition, saying, “the Jotnar Edition comes with just the hammer and the game, whilst the Collector’s Edition comes with other pieces such as some badges, a map of the world and more.”
Henderson also suggested that “God Of War: Ragnarok” could be released on November 11, betting it as a safe date if the Japanese gaming giant would not want to “step on toes.” He argued that a new “Need For Speed” title is set for release on November 4 and Ubisoft’s new “Avatar” game will be released on November 18, leaving Sony a couple of choices — November 11 and 25, if it still plans to release in November and if there are no more delays.
“God of War: Ragnarok” was announced in September 2020, while its trailer garnered the most views at last year’s Sony PlayStation Showcase. It is slated to be released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
