The 34-year-old India National Cricket Team premier spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is all set to return to action in the ongoing season of Ranji Trophy after missing out on top-level cricket for an extended period of time.

Ravindra Jadeja last played competitive cricket on August 31, 2022, and since then he has been out of action with a knee injury for which he even underwent surgery. He was named in India’s squad for last month’s Test series against Bangladesh, but he wasn’t able to recover in time.

Jadeja has been included in the Saurashtra squad for the ongoing Ranji Trophy and he will reportedly join the team on Sunday, January 22. The all-rounder will be in action when Saurashtra will lock horns with Tamil Nadu in the Elite Group B game in an away fixture. The match will be played from January 24 to 27 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

A player of that calibre joining the team is a huge morale boost – Niraj Odedra on Ravindra Jadeja

Saurashtra coach Niraj Odedra said that the players are really excited to have Ravindra Jadeja back in the squad. He added that the addition of the premier all-rounder to the squad will act as a huge morale booster for everyone.

“His training and workload will be as per the National Cricket Academy (NCA) protocols. In fact, I had sent Jaddu a WhatsApp text saying that the boys are really excited to have him back. He immediately wrote back saying he is looking forward to catching up with the team. It’s been a while since he played Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. A player of that calibre joining the team is a huge morale boost as well,” Niraj Odedra, Saurashtra’s coach, told Sportstar.

Meanwhile, Jadeja has been included in the squad for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series against Australia National Cricket Team. However, his availability is subject to fitness.
