The anonymous lead developer of Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama, has announced the introduction of a new reward token called TREAT.
In a new blog post titled, “Shib Army We March On,” Kusama introduced TREAT as the new reward token and noted that its launch is part of the continuing development of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The lead developer also noted that the token’s development is done quietly because the team does not want to “rush another token into the ecosystem” and “its use case must be well defined and outlined.”
While BONE serves as the reward token for validators in the Layer-2 solution Shibarium, TREAT will be the reward token in the SHIB ecosystem and will be available to everyone. The incoming token will also help balance the algorithmic stablecoin SHI and bring great rewards to “Shib: The Metaverse” and the blockchain versions of the highly anticipated Shiba Inu Card Game.

Kusama explained that TREAT “will derive rewards for the Metaverse, and the blockchain version of the Shiba Collectible Card Game, as well as for helping to provide balance to Shi! This is a huge step in the final landing of this massive project to full decentralization.”
Kusama also said they have “reserved a limited supply of Treat for our most loyal Breed members that have stuck with us for months and months helping develop the confidence to protect and grow the ecosystem with patience, energy, and support,” noting that these Breed members “have gone through a lot to help us, the development team, finish the criteria that will allow us to fulfill Ryoshi’s mission.”
Kusama also assured the Shib Army that “Treat will benefit our current SHIB ecosystem holders greatly, the tokenomics will not disappoint.” He also offered updates on SHI, the algorithmic stablecoin of the community, and noted that it is expected to launch in 2022.
Unfortunately for TREAT, it has no release date yet. As of 2:49 a.m. ET on Thursday, SHIB was trading up 1.42% at $0.0000105 with a 24-hour volume of $298,553,417, based on the latest data from CoinMarketCap.
