International Day Of Peace is marked annually on Sept. 21 to strengthen the ideals of peace by observing a day of non-violence and cease-fire.
The United Nations General Assembly established the International Day of Peace in 1981. However, in 2001, the day was unanimously voted to be designated as a period of non-violence and cease-fire.
The theme for this year’s International Day of Peace is: “End racism. Build peace,” as harmony can be only achieved in a society where people are treated equally, regardless of their race.
