One Republic singer and songwriter Ryan Tedder, who worked with Blackpink on their upcoming album, has said fans can look forward to a memorable return of the K-pop supergroup when they release their new project next month.
Tedder spoke at “Good Morning America 2022 Summer Concert” series over the weekend and revealed that he worked with Jennie and Rosé when the two visited Los Angeles recently.
“All I can confirm is that I have worked on Blackpink material,” Tedder said. “I did write with the girls themselves. I did, I think, one of the only sessions they’ve done outside of Korea we did in Los Angeles with Jennie, Rosé, a handful of them.”
Tedder, who also wrote Beyonce’s “Halo,” assured the group’s loyal followers, known as BLINKS, that the quartet’s upcoming album will have the signature Blackpink sound because he allowed the members to have creative freedom in their new album.
“I genuinely love Blackpink and so I can’t tell you what’s coming out. I think one or two of my songs have made the album from what I’ve been told,” he revealed. “The stuff that I did with them I can just say is very true to their sound. They wrote it so it was very much me just supporting them, their ideas. It’s cool as hell.”
The musician, who previously wrote Ariana Grande’s “Why Try,” also revealed that he was a huge Blackpink fan.
“They’re phenomenal, they’re so sweet, they’re so talented. I’m a huge BLACKPINK fan. Their posters are all over my wall. My wife thinks it’s weird,” he said.
Tedder spoke about his love for the K-pop group earlier also.
Blackpink’s music label – YG Entertainment – has announced the group will release a new album in August, which will end their two-year hiatus. YG Entertainment said Jennie Kim, Lisa Manobal, Roseanne Park and Kim Ji-Soo were in the final stages of recording their new album. Aside from this, the members will embark on their “largest-ever” world tour later this year.
