    FORMER WALLABY LINKED WITH TITANS

Former Wallaby Curtis Rona is reportedly set to return to rugby league after a five-year stint in rugby union.

The 30-year-old was expected to sign with the Western Force before the deal fell through. According to Wide World of Sports he bizarrely then went AWOL from his current side the London Irish with friends and family unable to reach him.

Now it appears Rona could be headed back down under with reports the Gold Coast Titans are interested in signing the veteran.

Prior to defecting to rugby union Rona played 57 games in the NRL, seven with the North Queensland Cowboys and 50 with the Bulldogs.

Rona joined Perth based Super Rugby side the Western Force in 2017, the same year he earned himself three Wallaby caps.

Following his stint at the Force the New Zealand born back has also played with the Waratahs before moving to English side London Irish in 2019 where he has since remained.

SULLIVAN RELEASE REQUEST SPURRED FROM HUNT RE-SIGNING

Jayden Sullivan’s request to depart the Dragons may come back to a Zoom call between the 21-year-old and the club.

Sullivan is contracted until the end of 2025 but became the second St George Illawarra young gun to request a release along with Tyrell Sloan.

The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio reported last week that Sullivan believes he is ready to be a regular starter — and the situation is set to “blow up”.

Now the Sydney Morning Herald reports that Sullivan was told, during a Zoom call while negotiating his current deal, that Ben Hunt would not be at the Dragons beyond 2023.

Hunt then became the Dragons’ best player in 2022 and earned himself a new deal.
