Storm star Harry Grant has urged Cameron Munster to turn his back on the Dolphins multimillion-dollar contract offer and remain in Melbourne.

Grant himself turned down super coach Wayne Bennett’s advances before inking a three-year extension in April.

The 24-year-old was one of the NRL’s newest club’s top targets, but after missing out on a host of marquee stars, the Dolphins have focused their sights on Cameron Munster.

Reports suggest the Dolphins are set to table a bumper four-year $5.2 million contract to arguably the best player in the game – but Grant hopes his teammate makes “the right call”.

“Hopefully Munster thinks the same way as me,” Grant said to the Courier Mail.

“Everyone here is hopeful he will stay, he is the heart and soul of the Melbourne Storm at the moment.

“He has been so good this year, his energy for us is infectious.

“Cam is playing such good footy at the moment, I would love him to stay and whether it’s fans, the coaches or the board, we don’t want him to go, but that’s ultimately a decision for Munster.

“As a player, he has to make the right call.”

Grant himself could have been a million-dollar player by signing with the Dolphins, but instead he chose to remain in Melbourne alongside a host of other names who put pen to paper on new deals including Jahrome Hughes and Ryan Papenhuyzen.

The Storm were hoping Munster would take a pay cut to remain, citing salary cap pressure as the reason for the reduced contract offer.

According to Fox League’s Braith Anasta, Melbourne powerbrokers have “put themselves back in the frame” with an “impressive offer”.

Grant is hopeful he can win a premiership with the Storm, alongside Munster, and continue Melbourne’s decade of dominance.

“I want to win a premiership, that’s my main goal as a footy player,” Grant said.

“You hear past players speak of the Storm and what we have here.

“I had an opportunity to go to another NRL club, but to sign with the Melbourne Storm, I really appreciate what the old boys say about the club, and what the club means to them.”
