New Zealand Cricket Team is set to play 2 Tests against England in February. This Test Series is not a part of the World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23). Both the teams are out of the race of the final of WTC where the Black Caps had a forgettable cycle where they finished at 8th position whereas England finished at 5th position.

This Test Series would be the first one for Tim Southee in New Zealand. The speedster showed great leadership abilities in the Pakistan Test Series where the Black Caps were on the cusp of winning the Test Series. The skipper was spot on with his field placings where it never looked like it was his maiden stint as a Test captain.

Gary Stead on Trent Boult

New Zealand Head Coach Gary Stead was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about Trent Boult. “No, I wouldn’t have thought so. I mean Trent & I have had discussions and I think his return from the UAE would only be a day or two immediately prior to the start of England tests. I think from a workload perspective that’s out of the picture.” said Gary Stead.

Conundrum for New Zealand

The former Test skipper Kane Williamson had said in one of his interview that the team is finding it difficult to find the like for like  replacements due to the ever changing landscape of World Cricket. Trent Boult is someone who is not only lethal with the new ball but also with the old ball as the speedster has got a lot of variety.
