TIGERS NEWSLETTER: Riley Greene already living up to Tram and Lou’s legacy
Tigers lineup: TBA.
Game notes: Wacha is one of the few American League pitchers who’s started as well as or better than Skubal. Of his 11 starts this year, Wacha has given up more than two runs just twice. Granted, most of the Iowa native’s appearances last fewer than six innings (these days, two times through is all you need to do) but he did drop a complete-game shutout vs. the Seattle Mariners earlier this month.
Skubal has come back to earth after a dominant first eight weeks or so. He’s allowed nine runs over his last nine innings spanning two starts. In his seven starts before this rough ministretch, he’d allowed eight runs in 48 innings, with three scoreless starts of six innings or longer.
The Tigers continue their cross-country road trip in Arizona vs. the Diamondbacks then have two games at the San Francisco Giants before heading back home.
