Two months after the conclusion of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s bombshell defamation trial, thousands of documents filed in their case were unsealed over the weekend, including controversial text messages between the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor and Marilyn Manson.
The court documents, which were verified by the New York Post, revealed new text messages between the 59-year-old award-winning actor and Manson, born Brian Warner, whose defamation case against former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood is ongoing. The 53-year-old singer was accused of sexual abuse and grooming.
In a 2016 text, Manson allegedly wrote, “I got an amber 2.0” and also “Lindsay just pulled (sic) an amber on me…please delete,” according to the outlet.
The documents showed that Depp allegedly responded, “I been reading A LOT of material on that and sociopathic behavior…it is f—king real my brother!! My ex-c—t is goddamn TEXTBOOK!!!”
In another text, the singer apparently referenced an incident where the police were called to Depp and Heard’s apartment in Los Angeles back in 2016.
“I got a serious police amber type scenarios with L’s family. I’m f—king stressing. I don’t know if you are back but I need asylum somewhere because I think the cops might be headed my way,” Manson allegedly wrote, according to the filing.
In the documents, Heard, 36, and her legal team claimed that Depp went on “drug binges” with Manson, including in the days before the actress arrived in Australia and the two got into a fight that ended with the actor losing the tip of his right middle finger.
International Business Times could not independently verify the information.
The unsealed court documents revealed information and details that Heard and Depp attempted to submit into evidence that did not get approved or were deemed inadmissible by the judge for their Fairfax, Virginia, trial.
One document filed on March 28 detailed Heard’s opposition to a series of motions made by Depp’s lawyers, including his attorneys’ attempt to bring up “Amber Heard’s sister Whitney’s reality show video” and “Whitney and Amber’s past romantic relationships,” according to the New York Post.
Heard’s lawyers wrote that Depp also wanted to bring up during the trial the “Aquaman” star’s “brief stint” as an exotic dancer years before the two stars met, the filing stated.
Her lawyers opposed, “Mr. Depp attempting to frivolously and maliciously suggest or imply that Ms. Heard was at one time an escort.”
The documents also included a list of “relevant and damaging information” against Depp that was excluded at trial. One of these was that “Mr. Depp appeared on TV drunk and stoned, to the point that Disney studio executives called [Depp’s former agent Tracey] Jacobs asking, ‘What the hell was wrong with your client,’” the filings stated. It was not stated what alleged appearance the attorney was referencing in the filing.
On June 1, Depp was awarded a total of $10.35 million in compensatory and punitive damages after a jury found that Heard defamed the actor in her 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post about surviving domestic abuse.
Heard also partially won her countersuit over comments made by Depp’s former lawyer Adam Waldman when he called her abuse allegations a hoax. The jury awarded her $2 million in damages.
