Nearly two million tickets have already been sold for the 2022 World Cup, but fans still have a chance to attend this year’s tournament in person. FIFA is putting more tickets on sale at various prices for the upcoming event in Qatar.
The new sales period for the 2022 World Cup starts Tuesday at 5 a.m. ET. Fans can apply for tickets at FIFA.com/tickets, where they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Seats are expected to be sold out in short order. The sales period ends on Aug. 6 at 5 a.m. ET. The last round of ticket sales concluded in April.
There are four ticket categories for each match. Category 1 tickets are the most expensive, while Category 4 tickets are the cheapest. Only residents of Qatar can buy Category 4 tickets.
Tickets for opening matches of the World Cup range from around $55 to just more than $300 each, NBC Sports noted. Group play tickets cost up to $220. The most expensive Round-of-16 ticket is worth about $275.
Ticket prices increase as the World Cup moves closer to the final. Seats in the quarterfinals can cost up to $425, and the most expensive tickets for the semifinals cost more than $950.
Non-residents of Qatar can’t purchase a World Cup Final ticket for less than $600. Category 1 final tickets cost around $1,600 each.
A limit of six tickets per match and 60 for the entire World Cup has been set for ticket buyers. Three million tickets in total are expected to be offered for the tournament, which takes place over the course of 28 days.
The 2022 World Cup starts on Nov. 21 and concludes on Dec. 18.
